Fire Prevention Week 2017

 

Annually, fire departments around North America hold events in their communities describing various fire prevention initiatives. With the help of our mascot, Sparky, Brandon Fire & Emergency Services is proud to be a part of promoting fire safety during Fire Prevention Week. The theme changes each year with our most recent theme being displayed in the banner.

 

Brandon Activities Include:

 

Tuesday, October 10th:   #1 Fire Hall Tours

  • The firefighter/paramedics will be on hand to provide tours of the #1 Fire Hall located at 120 19th Street N between 1:30 and 3:30 pm to the public. Thursday, October 12th: “Celebrity Fire Olympics”

  • This year’s event will be hosted at TBD. Four celebrity Firefighters will be teamed up with four Grade 8 Students from a Brandon school to take on the grueling “Celebrity Fire Olympics Obstacle Course”. The celebrity Firefighters will include a member of the Brandon University Bobcats, a Brandon Wheat King, a local media personality, as well as the crowd favorite – the Principal or teacher from school TBD. Four teams competing in five events, fastest time wins the “gold”.

   

Friday, October 13th: "Fire Safety Day"

  • Between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. members of Brandon Fire & Emergency Services will be on-hand at Canadian Tire on 18th Street to answer questions regarding fire safety and distribute Fire Prevention Week information.
